Never underestimate your dream list.

Take courage. Never give up.

I was shocked.

After a few years, I saw my list of my must-have VA equipment. I think I wrote it more than 10 years ago.

When I learned that there is an opportunity for me to earn by becoming a virtual assistant, I looked for a mentor and took his courses. I was able to list down my VA equipment list because my mentor, Jomar Hilario, provided them in one of his emails.

Yes, I studied and implemented while looking at this list occasionally. I told myself, “I am going to buy one by one until everything is complete.”

There were times when I wanted to give up the dream (and the list). I moved from corporate to government work, so that meant I had to adjust to travel time and new co-workers.

Nevertheless, I held on. I never stopped dreaming.

One by one, I saw myself buying a few gadgets on the list.

At the same time, I was hired as a VA in 2012.

In 2014, a client signed me up as a full-time Social Media Manager, managing the Facebook Pages of top brands in Asia.

More clients later, I decided to just focus on providing Facebook Marketing services as my business.

Was the VA equipment list completed? No.

Instead, I now have a:

  • Home office, where a small corner is dedicated to the business permit displays

  • Standing desk (I started with a customized standing desk. Then in 2022, I bought a standing desk at Ikea)

  • iMac (bought this as second hand. This is another blessing story for another day.)

  • Macbook Air (I started with secondhand until in 2022, I bought my own. Again, another blessing story for another day. Why am I crying as I type this?)

  • Two Ferraris and a bunch of Minions (as displays, of course.)

Plus, one of my clients said, “You’re a copywriter. You’re not a VA.”

Who would have thought that a simple list would turn out to be something beyond what is written?

Take courage. Never give up.

Just like what one of my clients said, “Everything in life is working in your favor.”

So, what’s on your dream list?

Remember: it’s better to be kind than to be right. Broaden your perspective.

You’re exceptional,

Ann Kristine
