The Anti-Free Work Break It’s Oath Meal
This year I did something I swore I never do.
I did some free work.
Now, free work, pro bono, etc wasn’t my thing.
I just never enjoyed it all that much and preferred working on myself - especially since started freelancing full-time, serving clients paid, improving my craft, and having my side business.
Like you, my time is valuable.
And I prefer spending it on myself and keeping all the fruits of my labor instead of sharing it. But, at the same time, there’s a certain magic to giving pro bono work too.
Here’s what I mean:
One of my friend in the industry, she’s name is Bibi (native from the UK) ask me to create an infographic for one of her clients.
Just a simple infographic that talks about safety hazards from the workplace (in the trucking industry). Well, I make it quick, just a couple of minutes, then send it to her via Canva and then evaporate after.
After that she emailed me…
Bibi: How much do I owe you?
El Cruz: No, it for free. It’s a gratitude for taking me on your wing and a token for our friendship.
Bibi: Really? OMG, I love you!
Anyway…why I bring this up?
To brag?
Hell NO.
Just a little sharing of how Pro bono work (free work) can do for you.
I’ll tell you…
That simple free infographic opens up so many opportunities, connections, and perspective for me. Because the lady I did gave free work, brought me two clients from her bag and gave it to me because she’s so busy handling 15k worth of clients per month.
And I earned like 800 dollars fast from a 30-minute work in Canva (plus she added me to a group of website owners that certainly begging me to manage their Website's Pinterest Account).Just by giving my precious time to a friend.
So here’s the point,
While certainly can’t guarantee you’ll have the same results as I did for your business. But doing a small thing for people can be a BIG thing if done with honest good faith.
So…before I end this rant.
I just want to officially introduce myself.
My name is El Cruz, and I’m going to be the man on the chair for Ann’s email broadcasting.
Yes, because that CRAZY lady with a huge smile and braces is so busy juggling her in-demand time. Making seminars, being interviewed by reporters, bloggers and a lot more. So I gratefully took in charge of this role.
So to start…
I’m honest to goodness selling one of her very best creation.
A book that will teach you how giving small, moving small and acting small can really be a BIG thing when done consistently and for a Higher Purpose.
So don't procrastinate...
