How desperate are you?
How desperate are you, *|FNAME|* ?
Hello, .
“Congrats, Ann! You won the contest!”, my friend said.
WAIT, WHAT!?
I rarely win on contests so I am never interested in joining them. It’s as rare as the blue moon or the probability that Tom Hiddleston will fly to the Philippines and ask for my hand.
I remembered telling my dear Papa years ago if I could just stop writing my full name, address and signature at the back of a milk’s carton box edges because one, we never won and two, my name is long. (I imagine myself writing Peñaredondo-Hiddleston on documents. Cute but LONGER. But Lord, make it happen, I beg you.)
But I know I jumped on my story (and by now it’s obvious who I’m stalking on the Internet). So here’s what happened.
Last week, one of my friends had an upcoming event where she would speak. (I love her story. She said she used to stalk me because she wanted to become an online professional, too. Three years after meeting her in person, she’s still on her online career roll. I believe she’s better than me but I don’t mind!)
She posted a CHALLENGE on her Facebook Page with SIMPLE instructions: The challenger will get a seat on her half-day seminar on Facebook Ads if you do the following - share the post, tag her name and include its hashtag.
I saw the post and I shared it on my Facebook Page with the intention of letting people know that she’s coming up with the challenge. I attended the Facebook Ads seminar in May this year and it was awesome.
The night before the seminar, she talked to me and said, “You won the contest!”
I told her, “Wait… What contest?”
“You shared my post, right?”, she said.
Remembering what I did a few days ago, I told her, “Yes, I did share your post. But it wasn’t my intention to join.”
My friend said, “Yes, I know you intended to spread the word about it. But no one shared the post except you.
It’s weird sometimes, ‘no? You give people an opportunity to learn or to grow but they don’t grab it.”
And so I attended the seminar which not only costs P5,000.00. It was held in one of the coolest (LITERALLY) hotels in Makati.
If you think that’s nothing, let me give you a few more stories: I got to talk to top digital marketing influencers in the Philippines, helped business owners run their first Facebook Ads campaign, and, God-willing, if I pass a certification exam, I could have the chance to formally teach Facebook Ads to business owners (and get a speaker’s pay).
WOW, I REALLY WON A CONTEST, YES?
I am not asking you to keep your nose on contests. It’s your choice.
What I am trying to tell you is this: What are you willing to do to learn?
How desperate are you to grow as a person?
How badly do you want change to happen in all areas of your life?
HONESTLY, TELL ME: HOW DESPERATE ARE YOU?
Stay Exceptional,
Ann Kristine
